Luke had set his heart on working in the construction sector after leaving Runshaw College in Leyland in 2024, having completed a T Level in design, surveying and planning.
He had been due to start a degree apprenticeship in architecture but was told at the last minute by the university that he was no longer eligible.
“I was devastated,” he said. “But that was when my former lecturer at Runshaw College, Stuart Hide, contacted me to say FI Property Group was looking for a trainee quantity surveyor and asked if I’d be interested.”
FI Property Group has a long-standing relationship with Runshaw College and several other universities and colleges.
Luke said: “I contacted FI Property Group, had an interview and was offered the job.
“I love it, whether that’s being out on site, negotiating prices or seeing projects come together. I feel as though I’m part of something bigger and I can’t believe how quickly the first year has gone.”
Luke’s former lecturer at Runshaw College, Stuart Hide, said: “We really value the strong relationships we have built with employers such as FI Property Group.
