Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Plant Fitter to maintain, diagnose, and repair a wide range of plant machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently while minimising downtime and supporting operational productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, service, and repair plant machinery and heavy equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults
- Carry out preventative maintenance according to schedules
- Replace defective parts and components
- Perform welding, fabrication, and fitting work where required
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records
- Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repairs
- Test machinery after repair to ensure proper operation
- Liaise with operators, supervisors, and suppliers regarding equipment issues
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or Mechanical Fitter
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read technical manuals
- Fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Welding and fabrication experience advantageous
- Good problem-solving abilities
- Full driving licence
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in plant mechanics, engineering, or operations.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including LOLER & PUWER.

Training certificates in plant operations, inspection regimes, or mechanical disciplines beneficial.
Working Conditions
- Workshop and site-based work
- Involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions
